Questioning choice of quotes

Words of wisdon should always be welcomed, but there were two offerings in the "Words of Wisdom" column in the News-Sentinel that deserve to be questioned, or their source, anyway.

The quotes came from Frida Kahlo, a communist twice-married to the Communist Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. When buried, her casket was covered by a large white flag with the Red Star, the symbol of the Soviet Union, just as the bald eagle is our nation's symbol.

Such a choice of persons to quote would be fine in Berkeley or San Francisco, but Lodi hasn't sunk quite that low yet.

J. Norman Sayles

Poor Mr Sayles, having threatened to assassinate the President he is now grasping for an encore.

And thank goodness Freedom Of Speech (or Freedom Of The Press) extends to the John Birch Society as well, Norman.

They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
