There goes our 2014 $19 COLA cost of living increase in SSI. There will be a 3-percent increase for the next five years in water rates, a 3-percent rate increase for the next five years in waste water, and with an increase in California Waste pickup for the remainder of a five-year contract, it’s hardly worth going to the bank with more taking then giving.

And this is only the city; the county will take their share, and the state will sneak in their share also.

So the folks on SSI look out, people out there are watching for any increases in your retirement. Don’t they realize there are people in Lodi on a fixed income who cannot afford these increases? Or do they think everyone can afford this yearly adjustment?

Also, this is something the citizens of Lodi cannot stop. Ask our city council, at any time have increases been stopped by citizens sending in letters of opposition to the city clerk? The answer is no, they have not.

So, are you complaining because your cost of living adjustment is being spent on an increase to your cost of living?
