The Morada Area Association was awarded one of three 2013 National Award for Excellence in Neighborhood Watch by the National Association of Sheriffs.

Given the crime problem in Morada, just a few short years ago this award would’ve seemed impossible. Our Neighborhood Watch program is proof positive that activist residents can significantly reduce crime and make our neighborhoods safer and more livable.

Morada owes thanks to resident activist Mrs. Donna Augustine for her inspiration, tenacity and leadership in this collaborative success. Thanks also to Supervisor Ken Vogel (District 4), Sheriff Steve Moore and San Joaquin County Abatement Coordinator Bill Hughes for their support, especially the Morada patrol car and fast deputy response. Mr. Hughes was very encouraging and accommodating with his time and advice, and Morada is appreciative.

Again, thanks to all for making Morada a great place to live.
