For the last 10 years, Dee Dee's Family Restaurant has proudly served the Lodi community, providing a quality product at a fair price in a family-friendly atmosphere. Now, as our lease expires, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of Dee Dee's, effective July 29.

The people of Lodi welcomed me with open arms, and for that I will be forever grateful. We have developed many friendships and loyal customers over the years, and I shall miss them, but the time has come for me to pursue other endeavors and devote more time to my family. Many thanks to my staff, customers and the great city of Lodi! Thank you for being a part of Dee Dee's Family Restaurant over the last decade. I wish you all the best life has to offer.

Everyone can learn a thing or two from Mr Kinderman. It is why I read each one of his posts at least 2 times.

Walter, it is not Mr Kinderman's "move"... it is his character and principles that guides his comments.

    Jerome, good move.

    Take the high road.

Too bad your buddy is so complusive.

He could learn a thing or two from you!

Mr. Smith - your comments leave me just a little confused. In one sentence you chastise those here who you believe have “trashed” one restaurateur because you believe her heart and soul to be beautiful.

But then you direct those same contributors to gang up on another whom you obviously don’t like. And you do so most vehemently.

I must ask you sir, what does this say about your heart and soul?

Why must you talk about Dee Dee like that? She has a beautiful heart and soul.

For all the trash talkers out there, why not trash on a restaruant that deserves it most. Like Hollywood Cafe. Have you eaten there lately. Its food i wouldnt eat off the floor- its terrible and prices are outrageous.

I think she find her cooks out of the cracker jack box

Lets talk about that dump of a place and let Dee Dee move on with her life withdignity.
    Bless her heart!

Of course Walter. With your superior wit and comprehension abilities, you were able to escape the web of nefarious intent. Good job.

Mr Houdack stated...So here we see Lodi's Republican National Teabag Committee once more unable to control themselves and invent new testimony that is not in evidence

Hummm... seems to me a natural evolution of thought. A popular business closes it's doors soon after another restaurant closes on School Street because of high rent. Regardless of why it closed, it is reasonable discuss the possibilities. If the business was making a lot of money, there would have been buyers.
Unfortunately for Mr Houdack who selected a derogatory “teabag” description, he displays his unreasonable attitude toward Kim, who is simply concerned with the trend for businesses disappearing as well as jobs in California. He may be right that the closure has nothing to do with the economy. However, it still is an important issue that comes to mind when seeing a wonderful Lodi business closing it's doors. That is no reason to call Kim a Teabag. shame on Mr Houdack.

While I don't believe it’s necessary for me to disclose, I assert that nothing in my post at 2:21 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 was a mistake or a distortion. This forum is a place where we are invited to set forth our opinions based upon facts as we know them to be.

DeeDee: For many years my parents enjoyed your food and hospitality. I would join them often, usually on Sunday mornings. Like all your customers, you made them feel like a friend. My parents passed away several years go, both in their 90,s and to this day I remember those meals with them everytime I drive by your restaurant. Thank you for that.

So here we see Lodi's Republican National Teabag Committee once more unable to control themselves and invent new testimony that is not in evidence.

Nowhere in her letter did Deedee say she found it "necessary" to close, or that the economy had anything to do with her decision to close, as Kinderman falsely claims.
An honest mistake or a willful distortion?

Not to be outdone, Parigoris claps her silly Teabag hat on her head before she runs into the street to hold Kinderman's flashlight under her face to invent "economic downturn...other businesses...regulations...uncertainty".

Can't you people even read a letter to the editor without the hysterics?
Well, I guess I already knew Kinderman can't and, on second thought, neither can Parigoris.

No matter - thanks Deedee, I have eaten a truckload or your food over the years and loved every bite; we loved your banter and that of your servers and family. We will miss you and we will be in several times before your scheduled departure.

Ms Bobin stated...As for being "one of the (finest) eateries," I cannot but imagine the taste of the individual who thinks that diner food is superior to many of our local fine dining establishments

Mr Kinderman stated...What a shame this is that Dee Dee now finds it necessary to close what to me is one of Lodi’s (FINER) eateries. Dee Dee herself "is" the restaurant because without her amazing personality and warmth, I suspect it would have closed many years ago.

Why must Ms Bobin insist on distorting the intent of the posting here.

Obviously, Mr Kinderman was not stating that the food itself was what made this restaurant. When Mr Kinderman stated Dee Dee herself "is" the restaurant because without her amazing personality and warmth, I suspect it would have closed many years ago, he is stating he values the atmosphere and personality of Dee Dee more than that of the food.

In addition, finer is not as a high standard as finest… Ms Bobin is clearly a cyber-bully that enthusiastically attempts to harm others. Thankfully, Mr Kinderman treats her for the troll she is and ignores her.

Oh, I thought that it had been abandoned. I didn't realize that it closed early.

As for being "one of the finest eateries," I cannot but imagine the taste of the individual who thinks that diner food is superior to many of our local fine dining establishments such as School Street Bistro, Crush, Hazel's, Yen Ching, Alebrijo's, Saigon Grill, Matsuyami Sushi, Haru Sushi, even La Campana for great tacos and burritos! - I can't even list everything that could be considered "fine dining" as opposed to Denny's (which for breakfast is pretty good - at least it is clean) type food.

The reason you don't see any cars there is because it closes around 3 every day.

    Kim,

Don't assume you know where I'm coming from on my post. I did not "lump" her in with "nasty business owners who just feeds off the poor people". So I will clarify for you by summarizing what I wrote on my earlier post.

    1. The food was terrible.
    2. She did not close because of the economy or the lease being up - she was tired of the restaurant business.
    3. She's been trying to sell that "fine eatery" of hers for a very long time.
    4. She will be just fine unemployed.
    5. I hope her employees found new jobs.

    Any questions?

Funny - I thought Dee Dee's had already been closed for years. I drive past that location often and never see a single car parked outside nor any sign that the business was open.

This all has a trickle down effect.. Her waitresses lose their jobs, so they can't buy that car, so the car dealer lays off his gardener, so the gardener can't go out to eat,and on and on and on. Businesses close and state and local tax revenue diminish. And I have heard that DeeDee pays very hefty rent there. Again, I hate to see anyone close their doors..it is bad for all of us as a community.

Best wishes to you Dee Dee. Too bad Jay seems to lump you in to one of those nasty business owners who just feeds off the poor people and its employees. The restaurant business is a daily grind and it is very hard to make ends meet, especially in an economic downturn. Fine eatery or not, I hate to see ANY small business close its doors. I know of another local business that will be shutting down at the end of August. Regulations, taxes, the economy in general, and a general feeling of uncertainty here in California are just taking its toll. Calfiornia ranks lowest in the nation in economic recovery again..http://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/blog/morning-roundup/2012/07/california-ranks-last-in-nation-in-jobs.html?ed=2012-07-11&s=newsletter&ana=e_sac_rdup

Um.....no Jerome, not quite. First off, I would NEVER consider Dee Dee's a "finer eatery". The food reminds me of the song "Rapper's Delight". Look it up if you don't know the reference.

I also find it difficult to read her portraying this as a "heavy heart" decision because their "lease is up" . Sorry - she's been trying to sell that restaurant for a VERY long time - obviously she was either asking too much for the business, or she simply had no takers. Dee Dee will have no problems in her future, she has set herself up quite nicely from what I hear.

I feel sorry for the employees though - I hope she had given them enough notice so they can find other employment.

It's not easy running a restaurant anywhere; and with the economy so slow to recover, I suspect many more will follow Dee Dee's into Lodi's history books. Of course I wish Dee Dee well but with her determination I'm sure she'll be successful at whatever the future holds for her.

Thank you for some nice memories Dee Dee.
