Editor: Parents, take responsibility for once. I get that parents want to spend time with their children, but from what I’ve been seeing parents are taking things too far then shifting the blame on everyone else, but themselves.

Teachers can only do so much. Ensuring your child gets plenty of sleep is not one of them. All we can do is suggest it. Parents whine and cry, saying their child is ‘too’ tired in the mornings, that schools start too early and need to start later in the day. These same parents are the ones who bring their children to the gym and swim until the pool closes at night.

These same parents are also taking them out shopping (Walmart as an example). This is why the youth are exhausted. They’re not getting enough sleep, because their parents are encouraging them to have less and less sleep. Parents step it up and take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming the schools for starting at a reasonable time. It’s your own fault your child is exhausted.
