What can we spend the extra money on? This is a question that will cause a headache; an extra $1 million for Lodi in unanticipated revenue.

My answer is to pay some of the debt, and maybe, possibly not take on any more debt until what is there is paid off. Is this the sensible thing to do, or is it the job of the city to accumulate as much debt as possible? Too many people have too much time on their hands and spend it thinking of new projects.

How much debt does Lodi have now? One way of cutting costs is to eliminate the police department, since judges, our attorney general, our governor and lobbying by the ACLU are turning prisoners loose faster than police can bring them in. Why make the effort of putting your life in danger for no benefit?

Federal judges are putting their two cents in and weakening our justice system. This means the three strikes law, voted on by the people, isn’t so because of judges and politicians.

At some point the citizens have to take back our government and vote these people out.

Ben: Is it possable you had to much to drink on Christmas and the effects have yet to wear off? Your idea of eliminate the police department allows me to think the egg nog had to much of your favorite sprits mixed in. Without a police dept. the rise in weapons bought by law biding citizens and others would spike since a licence is not necessary and going to town might mean a weapon would be necessary for self protection. A kicking sound at your front door, or dogs that would not necessarly bark could be some unwanted person was on or in your property. Without a 911 operator to dispatch a police unit to your location, the safety of your family and home are in your hands. Without a weapon or police, you better find a way to fend off the intruder, who without a doubt will be armed. This isn`t a case of pay me now or pay me later, it could turn out to be a visit by surviving members of your family at the local cemetery. Calling Parks and Rec or Animal Control will offer little help, unless it is to came to pick up your dead dog. Better to pay for police protection than be sorry you have to fend for yourself. Happy New Year Ben, and stay safe, remember Sam Colt made all men equal. [thumbup]
