The article about the fiscal cliff from the Associated Press, a mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, and the contention that President Obama is negotiating in good faith to avoid it is another lie that the national media spews forth.

All the assorted Marxists, Leninists and Maoists can't wait for this to happen, salivating at the thought of billions more dollars ripped from the hands of people who actually earn a living so as to consolidate more power in the name of the good of the state. And its all led by the Communist-in-Chief Obama.

Too harsh you say? Read "The Communist Manifesto" and the writings of its leaders through history. Obama preaches straight out of these writings. While he preaches his love for the common people he enacts laws that destroy their individualism and liberty.

Frederic Bastiat, a pioneer in classical liberalism, wrote, "The law places a collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense." Ask anyone who has been in the sights of the EPA, etc.

Jefferson in his "Notes on the State of Virginia" warned us of an elective despotism in which I profess we live in today.

Lenin called his followers "useful idiots." This doesn't mean they were bad people — just ill-informed, and communism is very appealing to the desperate.

Norm Thomas, a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party in 1944, said, "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Welcome, all you useful idiots, to the United Socialist States of America!

The Social Security system that you are depending on is going to completely and totally collapse in the coming years.Right now, approximately 56 million Americans are collecting Social Security benefits. By 2035, that number is projected to grow to a whopping 91 million!

By law, the Social Security trust fund must be invested in U.S. government securities. But thanks to the low interest rate policies of the Federal Reserve, the average interest rate on those securities just keeps dropping and dropping.

The trustees of the Social Security system had projected that the Social Security trust fund would be completely gone by 2033, but because of the Fed policy of keeping interest rates exceptionally low for the foreseeable future it is now being projected by some analysts that Social Security will be bankrupt by 2023.

Overall, the Social Security system is facing a $134 trillion dollar shortfall over the next 75 years. Yes, you read that correctly. $134 trillion dollar shortfall.

The collapse of Social Security is inevitable, and the foolish policies of the Federal Reserve are going to make that collapse happen much more rapidly.

Notice that neither political party proposes letting people opt out of Social Security, which exposes the lie that your contributions are set aside and saved. After all, if your contributions really are put aside for your retirement, the money is there earning interest, right? If your money is in your “account,” what difference would it make if your neighbor chooses not to participate in the program? The truth, of course, is that your contributions are not put aside. Social Security is simply a tax. Like all taxes, the money collected is spent immediately as general revenue to fund the federal government. But no administration will admit that Social Security is nothing more than an accounting ledger with no money.

I agree with Jim Turner, the 800lb gorilla sitting on OUR couch is Legal Bribery.

Some like to spell it 'Lobbying' but it still works out to, paying money or gifts in exchange (usually hidden) for political favors....and its legal and We, that means YOU and I are too chicken to stop them.
So as always (yawn) we got the Government we deserve.

Well You certainly correct about some of Your conclusions but You have neglected to point out that Bush''s bank Bail outs is socialism , Farm subsidies are socialistic, as is Social Security and You want to do away with Social Security ?

You want to do away with Social Security because ...??? Please don't tell me you are a retired gov worker of some sort. Over charging us while You slept at your job and retired with benefits the rest of us can only dream about ?
I could tell You how Hesus felt about sharing wealth but that for sure wouldn't make it passed the censors

That is very, very funny!! Way to keep it light.

Another suggestion: clean up all the stuff on the right side. After many comments, it takes forever to load. Tweets and politfacts, all the interactive stuff slows everything down.

Everyone: Sorry to interrupt and go off-topic. A News-Sentinel staffer has suggested the story comments would be better if they were ordered from oldest (at the top) to newest. Currently the newest is at the top (although the threaded replies are oldest to newest). If you have a minute, I'd appreciate it if you made your choice in a reader survey I've put up: http://bit.ly/T1fvr5 (The survey is also at the top of the right column on the Opinion pages.)
Ideally, readers should be able to change the order themselves. Unfortunately, that's not possible under the current system. I hope that feature will be available in a future update.
Mr. Baumbach and Mr. Lucas: If one of you could announce your choice so that the other can take the opposite position, that'd be great. (Just kidding, guys.)
    Thanks.

A useful idiot can ignore the fact that the Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus just as easily as they can ignore the fact that Carol Browner was an official with Socialist International prior to becoming Obama’s “climate czar”. Jim stated...Presidents--certainly those of the United States--do not enact laws.

Techically, you are right, but does anyone actually think Obamacare would exist if it were not for the power and influence the president has over legislation. He also has veto power to manipulate the outcome.

What's to disagree with Mr. Lucas?

The Socialist Party of America's newsletter is their newsletter, Carol Browner's former position with Socialist International was her position with Socialist International and the statement made by Sam Webb of the Communist Party USA was the statement made by Sam Webb of Communist Party USA.

When someone calls President Obama "Communist-in-chief" and adds that he "enacts laws," I suspect his motives and the accuracy of anything else he says. Presidents--certainly those of the United States--do not enact laws. In this country Congress is supposed to enact the laws, but I think that function has been taken over by lobbyists.

    To add to Andrews points,
    Via: The Examiner

The Communist Party USA is celebrating Barack Obama‘s re-election victory, according to two reports published since Tuesday.

Trevor Loudon wrote Thursday that Sam Webb, leader of the Communist Party USA, “hailed the election of Party ‘friend’ Barack Obama, as the ‘dawn of a new era.’”

“The Party is giddy over Obama’s victory, seeing it as both a repudiation of the conservative agenda and an opportunity to move the United States further towards socialism,” Loudon wrote.

“The Communist Party said a year ago that the 2012 elections would be the main front of the class and democratic struggle, and subsequent events have confirmed that fact,” Webb wrote at the Communist People’s World Tuesday.

It seems they cannot write a post without insulting those who disagree with them. Notice Andrew with his use of "useful idiot" or Mr Chapman and Mr Baxter's use of "mental midgets" on another thread. What is their real agenda? One is not trying to persuade someone else of ones ideas by insulting them. What their real agenda is an interesting question.

    NOOOOO not another alarmist read.
OK we need to cut some of these guys off from their WND (World Net Daily) subscriptions. We need to sever their cable connections to FOX News. We need to have a lite classical (soothing) music station with broadcast strength to block EIB (Limbaugh) and calm these guys down. Because if they can't articulate their concerns about what their concerned about other than we are falling into socialism and/or communism (which is it?) then the "prepare to meet thy doom" proclamations are not serving anyone beneficially and doing a great disservice to the alarmists mental health and blood pressure.

The Frederic Bastiat quote "The law places a collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense." is such an apt description of wall street I don't know how Ron missed this.

The over used tactic to lend weight to their hysteria is to call those who don't get as alarmed as they are about ill defined threats are "useful idiots" or something similar maybe even "mental midgets." Even though socialism and communism are not viable systems and not really practiced anywhere continue to be boogie man threats that lack substance. Those who were the most concerned were the wealthy industrialist afraid they would lose their wealth and power under these systems. But they were the ones best described in the Frederic Bastiat quote above. The propaganda campaigns they used in the 19th century still manage to make little men feel informed today.

Not bring up any actual policy or concrete example to support his thesis. check

Ron, the sad part is that very few people who would benefit from your words of wisdom have the ability to comprehend the significance of your points. In fact, many I am sure would simply gloss over what you had to say without thinking for one second.

In fact, they would say you are out of touch and maybe delusional. Unfortunately, until the goose that lays the golden egg is cooked, they will continue in their fantasy land.
