It’s time to bring American jobs home

When Blue Cross built their new building in Lodi, everybody was excited because they said they employed 400 people and were going to hire 600 more. I don’t know if that ever happened or not, but I have a friend who works there and she is going to lose her job on March 31, along with dozens of other people, because the work done by her department is being transferred to India!

I know there are many in Congress who think deficit spending is a horrible tragedy, but many of those are the same members who voted to spend hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars to keep our soldiers in Iraq, which resulted in the deaths of over 4,000 of our young people. They thought deficit spending was fine back then.

And many are the same members who voted to give tax incentives to employers to encourage them to move their jobs out of this country. That resulted in over 8 million jobs being “outsourced” to foreign countries between 2005 and 2008. And it is still happening in 2013! That is why we now have 23 million people who are either unemployed or underemployed.

I read a recent poll that said that 64 percent of the American people, while they are concerned about deficit spending, are even more interested in creating jobs in this country. When people are working at jobs that pay good salaries, they pay more income tax. And when they have the money to buy things, they pay more in sales taxes. When the USA is fully employed, tax revenue would increase and expenditures for out-of-work Americans would decrease — and the deficit would improve.

It is time for Congress to get in touch with the American people and do whatever they have to do to get America back to work. And a good beginning would be to bring back those 8 million jobs that we lost previously, and stop employers from shipping American jobs out of this country.

If our government would control its spending on all these entitlement programs and leave our corporations alone to manufacture the products we want and stop with the exorbitant taxes and regulations we would entice some of the businesses we've lost to return and maybe more businesses would begin or expand.

Absolutely correct Bobcat; The only recourse we have is to donate to political action committees or PACs who bribe lobbyists to do our bidding to congress on various issues. That's messed up.

Thelma says "It is time for Congress to get in touch with the American people" I agree but I hold that will be impossible Until we outlaw bribery.
    "BRIBERY "you say "what bribery?"
Well my dear they spell it LOBBYING but it is legal bribery and until we the 99ers make it totally illegal, corporations will employ lobbist to bribe our elected officials to do what THEY want, and they don't give a hoot what we want.

Yes, it is, and although it has its faults, it is still be far the best system. These young people that are getting sucked in to the "Social Justice" mantra are going to find there WILL be equality...we will all be equally impoverished with elitists like Al Gore sitting in their ivory towers. Marxists have tried to take this country down for almost a century, and were never successful, but now that they have adopted "Climate Change" , Smart Growth and Sustainable Development (all very pretty words) they have sucked in the American people hook, line and sinker. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2010/03/07/The-New-Fascists--Part-4--The-Marching-Minions-of-the-Frankfurt-School

Having a product made in a foreign country for less, what would you do? Between unions, taxes along with other costs make American manufactures look for ways to get the same product for less. If you owned a company and could get your product to market for a 1/3 less, what would you do. You know what you would do and so would I. It might be called Greed that is the biggest motorvator.[sad]

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
