When Ronald Reagan fired the air traffic controllers in the '80s, he had a back-up plan so as not to cause the American people any distress in their travel plans. His aim was to bring an out-of-control union back in line without punishing the American traveler. So when many of the controllers walked off their jobs, there were military air traffic controllers to take up the slack.
Today we have an imperial president who, if he wanted, could have had the same back-up plan, but instead of a president like Reagan who cared for the American people, we have a president who wants to punish us for a sequester of his own doing so as to cause such an uproar of all the people inconvenienced that he will get the money he demands from us. In Reagan's case, he was going after an out-of-control union without punishing the American traveler, while in Obama's case, he's using the union to punish the people for not getting what he wanted in the budget.
A little statistic from the Transportation Admininistration: From 2001 to 2011, there was 27 percent less air traffic while the budget increased 41 percent. There is also twice as many controllers as in the '80s.
The budget is not being cut, only a cut in the "increase" they were to receive. The only reason for furloughing these people is that Obama wants people to suffer to get his way.
Chicago is known for three things: pizza, gangsters and corrupt politicians. We can say with certainty that Obama is not a pizza.
