America is being dumbed down

I read a book some years ago titled "The Bell Curve," and the subject matter was the intelligence of the various races. As I remember, the average IQ of Chinese, Japanese and Caucasians was 113 and the average of the other races was 100. This doesn't mean that there are no low-IQ white people or high-IQ black people. These are averages! Those at the higher IQ levels are generally more successful in income and accomplishments, and this is a fact of life.

I personally don't think that our president is very smart, but Valerie Jarrett is very brilliant and is probably really in charge while Barack H. Obama is out talking very skillfully to the left wing of our country. The USA is being dumbed down these days, and I am glad I am 84.

Pat, if "Simon" is not removing the following post made by Kim Parigoris, why would you think he would remove mine under this thread?

Parigoris wrote at 7:02AM on Thursday, 4/4 regarding me:

"You are an angry, hateful person who just likes to lash out at anyone who differs from your outlook on the world. You make personal attacks on people with absolutely no factual basis. You have every right to say whatever you like, I suppose, but when I see your name on a post I will simply go right by without reading its vile and hateful content."

Please provide your assessment of these statements. I am sure that you would find them acceptable, considering the vulgar content of many of your own posts.

Lumping...cultures...ethics...beliefs...religions...education...wants...demands...lives...and abilities all in to one is race blending...the highest form of racism...blobbing. Education and IQ are separate issues today, in Mr W's day it was the norm...what the educated liberals thought and taught as progressive intellect. Now those same people call it racist thought.

As a side point Native Tribes were called lots of derogatory names including the Five CivilizedTribes. Is that NOT racist? Even today we must prove who we are by a number given to our ancestors (my grandmother called it a dog license and refused to use it) As voters, in schooling and many other places we are asked for ethnicity...is that NOT racism? Black people do not have exclusivity to race or racial mistreatment. No one does...it sits on all sides of the fire. Osiyo!

Why the differentiation between Chinese and Japanese? They are considered the same race, just like Germans and Russians (or the French). Maybe way back when this book was a best seller, they were confusing ethnicity with race and using them interchangeably.

For the LNS to print this letter on the anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr. is insensitive at best and I can only hope an accident. Editor, not your best day.

Ms. Bobin and I have had our share of knock down drag out arguements, but in this case I have to agree wih her. She says nothing about age AND the letter clearly carries the writers belief that Obama is not as intelligent simply because of the color of his skin. Racism should be called out whenever it is brought into a public forum,no matter the age of the person saying it.

I don't think Joanne mentioned age, are you projecting your own opinion of Mr. Weaver? Perhaps if you stamp your feet Simon will listen.

Simon, this woman's letter offends me and is a blatant false and age discriminate attack on one of our senior citizens. I am demanding that you remove her post!

    AMAZING!!

"The Bell Curve" covered many other topics besides race and intelligence, but it seems that Mr. Weaver only paid attention, if he actually did read it, to the chapter that covered racial differences in IQ.

Printing this blatently racist letter reveals an extreme lack of editorial oversight at this publication.

But then the editor and publisher have printed column after column of Joe Guzzardi's racist garbage, so why not this?

I disagree that Obama is not very smart. I believe he is a VERY intelligent person. He is also very charismatic to those who agree with him.
