As the sequester looms, here are some examples of our government's wise spending: There has been $600 billion taken from Medicare and the elderly to prop up Obamacare; $50.7 billion in foreign aid; $4 million for the IRS to run its own TV studio; EPA sends $100 million in grants to foreign countries; FAA spends $500 million a year on consultants; $500 million to illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County alone; the National Science Foundation awarded a $1.2 million grant to seniors to play the video game "World of Warcraft" to analyze the impact it had on their brains; $125 billion in documented waste and fraud abuse; the EPA awarded $140,000 to study Chinese swine manure; the National Institutes of Health funded studies on the hookah smoking habits of Jordanian students; the Department of Agriculture funded a $20 million reality TV show in India promoting U.S. cotton; and on and on.

If our government had stayed within the limits of the Constitution and had not gotten itself involved in areas it has no business being in, there would be a booming economy.

Just in the 59 minutes that our Imperial President droned on without end in the State of the Union address last January, the national debt increased $123.5 million and the U.S. government spent $404 million. Of the 6,419 words he spoke, he only mentioned the debt twice; the budget — which he hasn't passed in four years — four times; Obamacare once; spending three times; the sequester once; and probably the most important subject to us little people — unemployment — was not even mentioned.

The only thing this man is serious about is living the high life. We should listen to voices of the past that have been proven to be right through action and experience, like Cicero, who wrote, "The budget should be balanced, the public debt reduced, assistance to foreign lands curtailed and that people should not depend on the government for their subsistence."
