What a pleasure it was to attend the Scout-O-Rama at the Lodi Grape Festival grounds recently. Congratulations to all participants â€" Scouts, their families and the public who supported the event.
From the opening ceremony, with the outstanding rendition of our National Anthem, to the closing, it deserves high praise. The Scouting activities and displays were so well done that even watching the displays being set up showcased the good things Scouts learn, like working together to get the job done.
Mr. Bell was a hit with his science displays representing Lodi’s new World of Wonders Museum and I enjoyed talking about trees on behalf of Tree Lodi, Inc. The Scouts had participated with Tree Lodi in Centennial tree plantings in 2006. Incidentally, Scouting will be celebrating its own Centennial in 2008 â€" A big worldwide celebration.
Lodi’s police and fire departments showed the city’s support for a deserving group of young people. Scouts (boys and girls) and other youth groups are proving that "there is something to do in Lodi." Let’s keep supporting them.
