Letter: City of Lodi’s surplus tax money should benefit all citizens

I believe it is wrong — very wrong — for our city council to distribute tax dollar savings directly to city employees.

I believe our city employees are fairly compensated, or more than fairly compensated, compared to other area cities. I realize some city employees’ pay and hours were reduced last year, but so were services. Taxpayers and ratepayers received a reduction in services, but continued to pay full fare even though services were reduced.

I believe the tax savings should be directed to projects that benefit all city taxpayers and ratepayers, not just one special group of people. No? Anyone?

How about reduce the cost to the taxpayer, for installing water meters?
Or put it towards finishing DeBenedetti park after all these years?
