Is justice being served by closing Lodi’s courthouse

Lodi now has no court. It seems they can not afford even a justice of the peace.

I had a French friend who spoke of the German military in France during World War II, in regards to the criminals and law breakers. The Germans executed law and punishment on the spot — where they were also tried.

Here in Lodi, they are sent to the county seat — Stockton. Do we truly need a lawyer to judge traffic violations or minor violations of the law? If the cost is too high, lower the wages. Can justice prevail where the law-breakers are judged in another area?

One pays bail because they are a bad risk and may not show. Or in truth, is it really being used to fine people?
