Letter: California should not be judging Lodi Unified School District

In regards to the Aug. 30 headline, “Most Lodi Unified School District schools fail to meet state’s API target,” I know we must have standards, but how can the state of California judge any other agency without first getting their own house in order?

LUSD, I believe, is within budget — but the state isn’t. LUSD has funds for retirement. The state has millions in unfunded pensions. The state has no money for the high speed rail and tunnels that no one but Moon Beam wants.

Jerry Brown signs a bill that allows kids who are mixed about who they are today to use the others’ facilities. Tell me one 15-year-old boy you know who wouldn’t want to get into the girls’ locker room. This is the biggest farce.

The state has one of the highest license fees in the country. So truckers license out of state, then barrel down our highways, chewing up our roads — we get no revenue. Our roads were once the pinnacle, now they have better roads in Iraq — built by us. Another thing Democrats have done is steal from the highway fund to pay for their welfare-type programs.

California has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and they are judging our schools?

I know a lot of people in the teaching profession. Many are now retired. They are some of the hardest-working, smartest and most committed people I know. It’s irritating that schools are bound by stupid state regulations.

Let teachers teach, and make parents responsible again. Today people drop off their kids for baby-sitting, then when Johnny doesn’t do his homework or gets bad grades it is the teacher’s fault.

I went to all public schools. In the second grade, I was paddled. I forget why, but that couldn’t happen today. We need more discipline. Discipline is good.

So far we have two individuals in Lodi who have such a low opinion of 15 year old boys that they claim that these kids would actually pretend to believe they were girls just so they could get into the girls locker room and restroom to check out naked chicks.

I would suggest that these two (dare I call them "men") have conjured up a pretty strange idea for teen boys to fulfill their prurient interests. I'm sure most 15 year olds are much more creative and without the added baggage that would be created by the idea of this silly ruse.
