On June 30, I returned from Geweke Ford, where Lodi Adopt-A-Child received a check for $1,000. In the June 29 mail, we received a check for $1,500 from Dart Container. Earlier in June, we received checks in the amount of $500 from the Elks Club and the St. Joachim Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. We also received a $1,000 check from a gentleman in town who has over and over given us money.

This is not to downplay the numerous smaller donations we receive during the course of the year. We do receive other generous contributions during the year. However, I write this letter because of the irony of receiving such a generous contribution on the same day Geweke Ford closed their doors.

During these tough economic times, I am blown away by the consistent, generous contributions to Lodi Adopt-A-Child. The trust placed on us is humbling. I hope we never let you down. Our mission is to provide services to underprivileged children in Lodi, and we are constantly looking for new and better ways to do that.

In addition to our traditional Christmas program, we are expanding our back-to-school program as well as providing necessary school supplies to children enrolled in Title I schools.

This summer we have pledged $1,000 to the Parks and Recreation Department to help pay for registration to city programs for needy children. We are beginning a trial program to provide rewards to children who have shown significant academic improvement.

Again, thank you so much for your continuing support of Lodi Adopt-A-Child.

Jerry Glenn
