Don’t steal, it’s just that simple
This letter is in reference to the man who was robbed in his liquor store on East Lockeford Street while trying make an "honest" living to support his wife and children.
Stealing is a crime. If you choose to steal, then whatever happens to you is your own fault. If you don't want to get hurt, then don't steal. It's as simple as that.

Actually, I think many people share her opinion. I personally have not and will not state my opinion on this matter.

DB suggested that Ms. Mounce's letter was poo. Now I don't normally find much common ground with degenerate right on these pages but......

This might be a good submission for:

An "honest" living? I'm a little unclear as to who Ms. Mounce thinks was actually in the wrong here.

Anyone know if Carol is a relation of Joanne?

DB, is that your way of saying Ms. Mounce's letter is poo?
That seems rather uncharitable of you.

Ms Bobin articulates the possibilities very well. It was so obvious that Mr Schmidt was simply attempting to be witty in his unique way.

Possibilities:
Ms. Mounce wanted to emphasize the word "honest" in contrast to the "dishonest" activity of the beer stealer, but used an inappropriate method with which to connote that difference.
or
While Ms. Mounce supports the store owner, she disapproves of his type of business.
Hopefully, it is the former.

Have a glass of prune juice ... it will come to you.

Does anyone get what Ms. Mounce is trying to say by putting the word "honest" in parenthesis? Maybe its the early hour but the author's intent is just slipping by me here.
