Last October, Lodi Adopt-A-Child provided back-to-school clothing to more than 330 underprivileged children. The children were selected by their school teachers as being in need. Each child was provided three pair of pants, three polo shirts, a sweatshirt, socks, underwear and new shoes.

The cost for this is nearly $25,000. We have received some grants to cover the cost, plus the profits from our Crab Feed this past February and our annual golf tournament. The proceeds from our annual Swing for a Child golf tournament is devoted entirely to providing clothes for kids. We need to make sure the golf tournament provides a major portion of the costs, and to do that we need golfers.

This year's golf tournament is scheduled for June 3 at Lockeford Springs. The entry fee is only $125 per person and includes lunch, dinner, on-course beverages, a golf shirt and golf balls. Won't you take an afternoon off and swing for a child? If you do not play golf, you can help by sponsoring a hole, providing a raffle prize, an auction item or an outright gift. These children need our help.

For more information and an entry blank, please call me at 209-327-0494 or leave a message at 209-333-1056.

No man stands so straight as when he stoops to help a child.
