We should look at the legal ramifications of using Tokay High School track

Cogent arguments have been presented on both sides of the debate regarding public use of the Tokay High School track.

Recent letters, however, have focused more on the alleged unprofessional conduct of a Tokay staff member toward certain individuals using the track than on the potential legal ramifications of the public’s unsupervised use of the facility. As the recent shutdown of Kofu Park’s skating arena indicates, neither the city of Lodi nor the Lodi Unified School District wants to — nor should — be held accountable for the unauthorized, unsupervised use of these facilities.

The sad reality is that those responsible members of our community, whether teens or taxpaying adults, can no longer compensate for the unruly, litigious few who choose to damage or sue the government body held accountable if something bad happens.
