On the evening of May 28, a very special event took place - the dedication of the new Boat House at Lodi Lake.

The efforts of the Meehleis family (who donated the Boat House) and other families, friends and investors with such wonderful foresight should not go without mention and appreciation.

Lodi Lake, the jewel of our city, now has a modern boating facility, enhanced by new tables and seating, eight new trees and landscaping, plus a newly paved parking lot. All because a few citizens cared! Now it's time for more of us to see that this wonderful gift to the city is appreciated and maintained.

There are several volunteer groups working to help over-burdened park maintenance crews to keep Lodi's parks beautiful. It doesn't just happen. We all know what our own properties would look like in less than a month without water and care. Won't you join in the effort? Call Parks and Recreation for info on how you can help.

Again, thanks to the Meehleises and all who gave us the "new look" at Lodi Lake!

The boathouse has been a training ground for generations of future leaders. Lessons learned dealing with the public; from the gracious, to the haughty, to the idiots that blame the help when they themselves tip their funyaks.I have always been amazed at the youngsters that kept their cool dealing with the crazy public; must have a great training program.

Joyce, great letter. To the Meehleis family and other donors, a giant "Thank You."I made a special trip out to the lake the week after the ribbon cutting to checkout the new boathouse. I have a soft spot for the lake as I spent a couple of summers working there while in college. The new boathouse is beautiful, the docks wonderful, and all ADA compliant. This is what make Lodi Lodi.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
