When you listen to supporters of Obama about the state of the economy, and also to Obama himself, you would think that he has been off-planet for the last five years and has now arrived to save us from ourselves. This economy is Obama’s, not Bush’s or anyone else’s. Obama owns this disaster that he has wrought upon America — period!

This concept of equality is right out of Thomas More’s “Utopia,” which Marx then used as a forerunner to his “utopian socialism” in the Communist Manifesto. The end result is the loss of individual sovereignty and freedoms along with a soulless society of mass conformity who live for the good of the all-powerful state, subjugating their own desires and dreams. No one should be better than anyone else regardless of their merits or the value of the individuals contributions.

Envy is a driving force for “equality,” which if enacted on a society results in equality of misery for all. Look at Obamacare. Eighty-five percent of Americans were happy with their insurance plans while 15 percent either were not satisfied or just didn’t have any, like young, healthy people who didn’t need it. Instead of bringing that 15 percent up to the level of the 85 percent, our little Marxist felt it more expedient to bring the 85 percent down to the level of the 15 percent. His form of trickle-down misery.

Socialism in all its forms is a lie and has never worked anywhere in human history, and only ends in some form of tyranny by government. As Jefferson wrote, “That government is best which governs least. If we are directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we will soon want for bread.” There are millions in want and government is the culprit!

There are several factual flaws in Ron Portal's letter that make it collapse under its own weight. For one thing, the title seems to be about an entirely different subject, but I digress.

He states: "This economy is Obama’s, not Bush’s or anyone else’s. Obama owns this disaster that he has wrought upon America — period!"

This would only be true for someone that lived under a rock during Bush's terms I suppose. But those of us in the real world watched Bush come to power with a budget surplus that he wasted no time squandering. We saw the economy tank under some of the highest spending on record and witnessed the fruition of 30 years of Reaganomics dismantling important economic safeguards and funneling most of the nation's wealth into the hands of a tiny minority of uber rich people. (Democrat's hands aren't clean on that by the way) When Bush left office jobs were hemorrhaging at a rate of 700,000 per month, and the unemployment rate peaked at the end of Bush's presidential fiscal year at the end of September 2009 and before Obama's policies began to take effect. It's all documented in the US Treasury and US Bureau of Labor Statistics if you want to see for yourself. Obama's policies slowed down the hemorrhaging, and if you separate the spending due to Bush's war policies from Obama's own policies, Obama is the lowest spending president since Eisenhower. So to blame the poor economy on Obama is simply intellectual dishonesty. Most Americans know who tanked the economy, Obama's challenge is to repair it, but Republican congressional obstructionism is determined to prevent it. Why? Because they want to blame Bush's economic catastrophe on Obama. Don't be fooled.

Mr Portal also tries to link the concept of "equality" with some sort of Animal Farm type fiction when he says it's "the loss of individual sovereignty and freedoms along with a soulless society of mass conformity who live for the good of the all-powerful state." He serves up the reducto absurdum logical fallacy like cotton candy and expects us to gobble it up, but he just looks foolish instead of having any valid point. He makes giving everyone a fair chance and paying their fare share seem like something evil. He sounds like the sort of person that butts in line ahead of everyone and then calls them whiners for saying anything about it.

Then Mr.s Portal launches into an unrelated and incoherent diatribe about Obamacare as if he wouldn't be a proper conservative without complaining about it somewhere in his letter. But since it's a *new topic* I won't comment on it here.

Then Portal returns to attacking socialism with an ignorant statement that it has "never worked anywhere in human history" which completely ignores half of Europe, the US military, Social Security, Medicare, Post Office, fire department, police, etc., etc. It was the socialist aspects in the US government that was instrumental in rescuing us from the Republican Great Depression of the 1930s. I'd say after reading Ron Portal's letter he has clearly been living under a rock indeed.

I think Ms. Bobin spends so much time vilifying people she doesn't agree with because she doesn't understand that truth is absolute. It is not a matter of perception, relativity, definition or consensus.

    John stated,

Ron, just once I would like you to write a letter that really delved into a policy or idea that we can argue about.

    -John,

Just because you are unwilling to argue against what is in the "Communist Manifesto" doesn't make it any more appealing to those who lived or still live in communist countries.

    Ms. Bobbin stated,

Be advised - this behavior does not make the CT appear to be intelligent and only adds to the already huge amount of bogus information supplied previously.

-AND BE ADVISED!!!- Ms. Bobbin has a long track record of LABELING THINGS BOGUS she doesn't agree with.

Thank you Ms. Bobbin for confirming you don't believe these things are in Obama's playbook and we really shouldn't be the least bit concerned about them ANYWAY.

There is nothing that isn't true in Ron Portal's piece. One does not have to be Conservative or Liberal to do fact checking. Darn, those facts always get in the way Bobbin and Co's agenda.

Doesn't Washington already "direct...when to sow and when to reap?"

I think it's called the farm bill. Jefferson must have turned over in his grave when the initial legislation was passed during the depression.

"Taken over the healthcare system?" Hardly. You are talking about HEALTH INSURANCE, not the healthcare system which includes hospitals, doctors, nurses and, OH YEAH!....the Veterans Administration. Has Obama taken over those, too?

Modern conspiracy theory "rests" on the ability of the conspiracy theorist to copy and paste what he or she perceives as clever snippets stolen from other sources without giving credit to those sources.

Be advised - this behavior does not make the CT appear to be intelligent and only adds to the already huge amount of bogus information supplied previously.

Oh, I think Mr. Portal has done a fine job defining what is going wrong with America and if those who disagree were able to mount a defense they would be able to do so. For instance, is it a falsehood that President Obama desires to lead us into all-out Socialism (and eventually beyond) through his taking over the health-care system? And what did it take to bring this about? Lies, lies and even more lies. In addition there was the “having to pass it before knowing what was in it” from Nancy Pelosi that for whatever daft reason convinced both Houses of Congress to push it through with even more lies, deception and falsehoods.

Isn’t Mr. Portal’s last paragraph worthy of debate? Or is there no way to argue against it?

Modern American liberalism rests on two fundamental tenets: that utopia is possible and truth is relative.

Ron, just once I would like you to write a letter that really delved into a policy or idea that we can argue about. Your right wing rants are boring and if I wanted to listen to this nonsense I would listen to Rush or fox news. Please try to up your game and get real.
