What gives anyone the right to say the shooting of Parminder Singh Shergill was senseless or not? Were we there? No.

The police are out there every day putting their lives on the line for us. Those officers deserve our respect and support; not seconding their actions. They were doing what they are trained to do. What were they supposed to do, wait until they were stabbed or someone else was before they took action?

You automatically question the danger of a grown man who feels completely comfortable brandishing a knife in front of armed police officers. That also shows that this man was willing to use his own deadly force. His mental state may have been a factor, but so it also was with a man in Colorado, Columbine, Virginia Tech, Cleveland School and Sandy Hook.
