The days Jan. 25 and Jan. 26, respectively, saw the March for Life in Washington, D.C. with nearly half a million marchers and the Walk for Life West Coast with close to 50,000 — to commemorate 40 years of abortion with a loss of life of over 55 million children. This is not only a national tragedy but a national disgrace.
Obama stated that our first task is caring for our children. It's our first job. If we don't get that right we don't get anything right, and we should do the one thing that would keep them safe. Well, it's not banning guns — it's banning abortion. Abortion is a senseless act of violence perpetuated against a defenseless human being. Abortion kills a baby every 24 seconds — almost 4,000 a day. Such a barbaric violence has only been the response of pagan and uncivilized societies.
But God has a different way, the way of divine love. This is evident by the women who, although pressured to abort, choose life for their children, and some the loving option of adoption.
We are so grateful to these mothers because we are the beneficiaries of their love, faith, courage and sacrifice. They allowed their children to pursue their purpose and mission, and to show that every life is a gift from God. We have only to witness these high powered professionals in society: Andrea Bocelli, Tim Tebow, Colin Kaepernick, Steve Jobs, etc.
After 40 years of wandering in the desert of death and destruction, let us restore the right to life to every human person no matter how small, and support women in crisis pregnancies not with violence but with real love.
