I don't think that halting immigration alone is going to solve our economic crisis. Actually, I will argue the very opposite and state that by slowing down Immigration, legal and illegal, we are harming our country financially. I think we sometimes forget that immigrants, much like our ancestors, are more than just workers, they are also entrepreneurs who come to the U.S to set up businesses. So not only do they fill in jobs that most American's don't want to touch, but they also create jobs within the U.S. And for those Legal and Illegal Immigrants who do make it to middle class and higher, I say more power them. Its not easy being an immigrant, in fact its a harder life style (under most circumstances) than being an "American". The only thing I had to do to become an a United States citizen was to be born here. These people have earned being here, and some of them have almost died crossing the border. I also noticed you attacked immigrants for not knowing English, and I ponder this, if you don't need to know English, than why learn it? That has nothing to do with the amount of jobs immigrants hold in the U.S, so why bring it up? Alas, I conclude that this is a prime example of what we call Xenophobia, or the fear of foreigners. It is this exact behavior that hurts the U.S and helps keep racism alive. We rather point the finger at people we consider different than us, than actually solve the problem.
