Clueless in Lodi stated...I'd bet if he was talking about crimes ignored by the State in Thailand like child prostitution, human trafficking, sex-slaves, and sex-tourism, you would be up-in-arms and talking about how kind and gentle the people of Thailand are, despite the shame and misery they endure from that victimization

You lose the bet Ms Bobin...

What specifically did you find not to be factual?

Last year, President Obama issued a list for government officials to use when deciding whether to use “prosecutorial discretion” in deportation cases.

In essence, under that new set of rules in this list criminals and “national security threats” were to be deported and virtually everyone else was to be allowed to stay. That's called amnesty Ms. Bobin.

Essentially, illegal immigrants are going to get to stay in the United States if any of the following apply....

-arrival in the U.S. as a young child

    -actively "pursuing an education"

-serving or served in the U.S. military

-spouse of someone in the U.S. military

    -18 years old or younger

    -"elderly"

    -pregnant or nursing

    -victim of a "serious crime"

    -serious disability or health problem

-caring for a family member with a serious disability or health problem

These categories are so broad that almost all illegal immigrants will be able to fit into at least one of them. Now we are not only going to have "anchor babies", we are also going to have "anchor pregnancies". Millions of women that want to come to this country will soon learn that all they have to do is to somehow get inside our borders and get pregnant and they will be golden. With millions upon millions of promiscuous American men running around, that should not be too hard to do.

Janet Napolitano says that she wants to primarily focus on deporting those that have been convicted of a crime or that pose a "security risk".

But isn't coming into this country illegally a crime?

Yes, Mr. Crowder, that is the truth.

Unfortunately, Mr. Baumbach, people like you sleep while slanted information is printed in columns like Joe Guzzardi's.

I'd bet if he was talking about crimes ignored by the State in Thailand like child prostitution, human trafficking, sex-slaves, and sex-tourism, you would be up-in-arms and talking about how kind and gentle the people of Thailand are, despite the shame and misery they endure from that victimization.

The sooner you move there, the better. Let me know - I'll personally give you a going away party.

Joe's not interested in facts, Joanne. He writes for a xenophobic audience that is not interested in facts either.

Wow, Joe Guzzardi must really be PO'd at Obama's support for young illegal aliens that he not only accused the president of failing to protect Americans, but by plagiarizing (i.e. mostly reworded EXACT pieces of the report and not identifying them as quotations), most of this column from the House Judiciary Committee's report, but actually referenced the material he plagiarized!

Only one instance where he wrote: "In its summary, CRS stated..."

Joe Guzzardi wrote: "Obama has abandoned the American people that he was elected to serve and adopted a policy that allows thousands of illegal immigrants to be released into local communities."

I'm sure the use of "allows thousands of ILLEGAL immigrants" is an error and was COMPLETELY unintentional, since the CRS report was on "Illegal and criminal aliens ("criminal aliens," as defined in the CRS report, refers to "aliens who have gained LEGAL entry to the US, but who have commited crimes while here under LEGAL status).

According to the report, 54% of the 159,000+ individuals "identfied to ICE through Secure Communities" were Legal Permanent Residents, while 22% were illegals (still a large number).

If Joe Guzzardi wants to present an issue in his column, he should, at the very least, give the FACTS, not what he wishes were the facts. This very serious issue needs to be addressed in a straightforward manner, not an alarmist manner, as Joe Guzzardi is wont to do.

So, you are saying that Bush had the same "catch and release" policy and Obama is just continuing it?

    Alex,

Obama is known to continue using so many of the Bush policies because they work.
But these are just facts, and as the liberals say, these type of facts they won't report.

More illegals have been deported and less have crossed the border into America under Obama's watch than under any other modern president. But those are just facts, and as they say, facts tend to have a liberal bias.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
