Insofar as the Supreme Court is concerned, I can't help but think the Founders really didn't foresee our lives extending so far into our eighties and nineties and beyond. Even if they did, the notion of dementia and Alzheimer's disease hadn't occurred to them.

It would be nice if our politicians would recognize for themselves the appropriate time to step aside rather than continuing to hang on to their seats or positions simply because they can. Power is something not easily voluntarily given up. As far as elected positions are concerned, the blame there still rests with the People; we've got no one to blame but ourselves.

Nevertheless, even with the flaws inherent within our system of government it's pretty darn good. I wouldn't trade it for any other in existence today.

I third...with some reservations...mrc...the SCOTUS justices are appointed for life for a reason...it is called political pandering and re-election payoffs...like BO (and most politicians) did for the unions and his pals. No need for that with SCOTUS.

This kind of thinking is the first tiny step to life age limits. Which may or may not be good for America.

Feinstein is a joke. Same as when she was Mayor of San Francisco!

70 is the cutoff age for usefulness, is it? I guess you would then favor all of the elderly members of the Supreme Court resign in mass? Time for Antonin Scalia and the others to go play patty cake with their grandchildren?

You must be nearing that cutoff age yourself, Joe. I hope you like stamp collecting.

    I second that, Joe.
