I'm speechless with emotion as I read this about your father. We that have lost loved ones in this way, can all relate to your feelings and your experience with the healthcare system and what it means to have to break promises or not be able to give them that one last wish. My sympathy and prayers for your strength. God bless and thank you for sharing this touching column. Hugs.

A very heart warming column Mr. Banas. I think it is also realistic to note that there is no question that your father has felt your love and you can rest assured that you have done everything humanly possible for him. You are very fortunate to have a wonderful father and he has been as fortunate having a loving son. It doesn't get any better than that. You will have peace and so will your father.

God bless you and your family, Mr. Banas. I pray that you soon come to peace within your own heart, for in my mind, you made the right decision at a time of desperation. My wife and I, too, have had to make that same decision twice in the last 5 years and we're at peace with ourselves and one another. You're one heckuve sports columnist and without your fervency for local sports and athletes the sports section of the Sentinel would not be the same.
