Bob: I do not pray. For my self... I ask my grandfathers for guidance in what it is that I endeavor to do. I ask for the wisdom that has gone before me so that I might use it to help another.
When you ask friend for help they usually give it, either immediately or at a later date...that's the way God delivers. Just because you don't see it that doesn't mean it hasn't arrived. Save for my sister I have lost my entire family...if I need some help I ask them. They don't show up with a truck and trailer or some shovels or a book on wisdom...but they do show up...in a lot of different ways.
I say you ask my sister Nancy if God exists...or her husband Ric...20 years ago when Ric was on his deathbed with a disease that no one had ever even heard of...ask them. Ask how and when God showed up for them.

First let me say mra that I am not religious. You are correct (a little short) in your numbers. Bill Gates said it best...papaphrasing: "millions die each year from lack of clean water..." Why would I worry about a few hundred dying from global warming over the next ten years now?
Next: "You want to thank your god for the unanswered prayers of these children and their parents? You say this as though they can prevent it or at the least haven't TRIED to prevent it, which is all that can be asked or is asked of them.
You remind me of the guy who reads the end of a novel to find out what happens...it is the journey that matters, not the end.
Last: "More evil from God's Gentle people." You are condemning people like my grandmother, mother and sister...who believe that God blessed them with children and grandchildren. That makes them evil?? Are you from a family of aetheists? NO...you are just a singular asisnine person making judgemental statements abou people you do not know, will never know and don't want to know. You are a hateful small human being.

Children die every day from events that have nothing to do with human greed, sometimes on a massive and horrific scale. Think about all the children who were washed out to sea and drowned in both the Indonesian and Japanese tsunamis. Why didn't God answer their prayers? Bob says we should thank God for saying no to these requests for lifesaving assistance because a lot of the stuff we ask for is pretty stupid. Meanwhile, Texas Little Leaguers get God's help with game winning home runs all the time, because as we know, that's some serious stuff. God's got his priorities straight, that's for sure, Bob.

To be clear (since iI have dealt with this issue several times in the past), the issues Andy raises are a direct result of HUMAN greed and weakness, NOT a reslut of an uncaring God. It is by OUR choice that we let the children suffer and die (interesting how Andy doesn't seem to care anout the thousands of adult the die of the same). If we acted the problems would be solved.

Boy Andy, somebody is an angry, bitter person.
