Dorothy ‘Dot’ McClaine
Dorothy "Dot" McClaine, 95, of Lodi, died Feb. 14. She was born
Dorothy Nance on Feb. 2, 1917.
Mrs. McClaine graduated from Lodi High School. She worked at
Woolworth's and was a waitress for many years at the Cosmopolitan
and El Topaz restaurants, and opened her own business, Dot's Beauty
Spot on Lockeford Street, in 1961. She enjoyed eating at her
favorite restaurants, cooking for family and friends, camping,
attending parties, playing poker and gardening roses. She was a
member of the Cosmetologists Association, PTA, Soroptimists, Native
Daughters, Lodi Woman's Club, Emblem Club and the Red Hat
Society.
She is survived by six children, Darryl McClaine of Fresno, Fred
McClaine of Sausalito, Darlene Steele of Oakdale, Bill McClaine of
Lodi, Pam Roach of Lodi and John McClaine of Rio Vista; 15
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, "Fritz"
McClaine; and siblings Nancy Moden, George Nance, Clarence Nance
and Ruth Roza.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the
Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. Inurnment will
be private.
