Jose Guadalupe Nieves, 36, of Lodi, died July 9 in Tracy. He was born on Sept. 30. 1964, in Mexico, and was a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Mr. Nieves worked for Diede Construction in the San Francisco Bay Area. He previously worked as the assistant groundskeeper at Lodi Memorial Park for over 10 years.

He was a resident of Lodi.

He is survived by his wife, Amparo Miranda Ramos de Nieves of Acampo; children Alejandro Nieves, Jose Guadalupe Nieves Jr. and Daniela Nieves, all of Acampo; siblings Dagoberto Nieves, Pedro Nieves Jr. and Genoveva Nieves, all of Acampo, and Ramona Nieves of Mexico; his parents, Pedro Nieves and Irene Varela de Nieves of Tabasco, Zacatecas, Mexico.

A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rocha’s Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St. Lodi, with Father Jose Jaramillo officiating. Committal will be at Lodi Memorial Park.

Rocha’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
