Marcella A. Armstrong, 59, of Lockeford, died Aug. 17. She was born July 30, 1955, in Lodi.

Mrs. Armstrong attended Valley Springs Elementary and Glenwood Elementary, and graduated from Ione High School. After working at the Amador County Landfill, she started her career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in March 1990 as a carpenter at Preston School of Industry. During her career she worked at California State Prison, Solano, Deuel Vocational Institution, the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center, CDCR headquarters and Mule Creek State Prison,

being promoted along the way to maintenance mechanic. She belonged to Carpenters Local 1418 & IUOE Local 39 Stationary Engineers.

She is survived by her husband, George Armstrong; son, Alex Armstrong of Lockeford; parents, Dale and Corinne Powers of Valley Springs; and brother, Kim Powers of Valley Springs.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James L. Powers.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at Glory Bound Fellowship, 3061 Highway 12, Valley Springs, with a potluck reception immediately following. Internment will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery, East Harney Lane at Highway 99.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
