Sam Dais, 94, of Lodi, died Dec. 6. He was born July 13, 1919, in Eureka, S.D.

Mr. Dais served in the U.S. Army during World War II, with the 143rd Field Artillary in the Pacific Theater of Operations for four years. He was a carpenter for more than 30 years, building many homes in Lodi between the 1950s and the 1980s. He enjoyed fishing, especially at Fort Bragg, camping, coaching Little League and enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his son, John Dais of Lodi; daughter, Kathy Dais of Chico; and sisters, Lillian Warboys, Violet Holleyman, Tillie Priest and Shirley Holleyman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Reformed Church, 105, S. Ham Lane, Lodi. Interment will be private at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Donahue Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Reformed Church, 105, S. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA 95242; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Donahue Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
