Lewis Chester Hill, 85, of Galt, died Oct. 5. He was born April 20, 1928, in Lockeford.

Mr. Lewis served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for more than 50 years, and enjoyed working with computers and researching his family history. He lived in Galt for the past 60 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan Thomas of Lodi and Brenda Heisinger of Lockeford; son, Ken Hill of Woodbridge; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; sons, John Hill and Dennis Hill; and brothers, Bill and Harold Carpenter.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
