Merced Calderon Sr., 90, of Galt, died Oct. 2. He was born Aug. 13, 1922 in Mexico.

Mr. Calderon was an agricultural worker. He enjoyed animals, especially horses, gardening and soap operas.

He is survived by his daughters, Rosa Martin, Beatriz Calderon, Ernestina Calderon, Martha Calderon and Mireya Calderon; sons, Ramon Calderon, Pablo Calderon, Gilberto Calderon, Merced Calderon Jr., and Roberto Calderon; sister, Enedina Calderon; 32 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestina Calderon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Ben Salas Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
