Richard W. Johnston, 84, of Boulder, Colo. and formerly of Lodi, died Jan. 28. He was born Sept. 19, 1928 in Wittier.

Mr. Johnston was a music teacher at Lodi High School. He took the school choir to perform in Lodi's sister city of Kofu, Japan. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He played in the Army Field Band in Washington, D.C. and the 7th Armored Division Band.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; sons, Thomas and Alan; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 9 at Lawrence Unitarian Fellowship in Lawrence, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to "Gift From the Heart" and Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 7056, Americus, GA 31709.
