Wendell Conrad, 89, of Galt, died July 7. He was born April 19, 1921 in Topeka, Kan.
Mr. Conrad retired from Sacramento County as a drawbridge engineer. He was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed coin collecting, antique clocks and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Viola "Vi" Conrad; daughter, Linda Haase, of Stockton; son, Anthony "Tony," of Galt; brothers, Sylvester, of McKracken, Kan., and Adam, of Coos Bay, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, John; and sister, Geneveive Shukman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church. Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rio Vista. A recital of the Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church.
