Quentin Whitford

Quentin Whitford, 90, of Galt, died March 24 in Stockton. He was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Albion, Wis.

Mr. Whitford was raised in Lincoln. He was employed as a steamfitter with Local 346 until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the VFW in Galt and the Grange. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, walking his dog, fishing, gardening, history and family gatherings.

He is survived by his daughters, Arletta Fink, of Norman, Okla., Susan Goehner, of Jamestown, N.D. and Vanetta Bennett, of Cottage Grove, Ore.; sons, Donald Whitford, of Vallejo, and Ronald Whitford, of Acampo; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, J. Pauline Whitford; two sisters, one brother, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ben Salas Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the club house at Three Palms Park, 604 Pringle Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
