John Henry Welch, 89, of Lodi, died Nov. 1. He was born on June 16, 1919, in Butler, Mo.
Mr. Welch spent most of the past 61 years residing in Lodi, Galt and Lockeford. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theater of operation. He worked as a drag-line operator. Mr. Welch enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to casinos, fishing and western art.
He is survived by his son, Fred Welch, of San Andreas; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce Welch; sons, John Welch and Michael Welch; and sister, Pauline Miller.
At his request, there will be no services.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
