Carl Peterson
Carl Harold "Pete" Peterson, 89, of Lodi, died May 20 in Lodi of
natural causes. He was born Dec. 20, 1917, in Lodi on the family
farm, where he resided his entire life.
Mr. Peterson graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1934. He
served in the Army Air Forces in Guam from 1942 to 1946 and was a
World War II veteran. He was a lifelong farmer and grew grapes and
cherries. He was a 50-year member of the Woodbridge Masonic Lodge
and was also a member of the Tokay Shriners and American Legion,
and served on the board of directors of Guild Winery. He enjoyed
living on his farm, which has been in the family for 104 years, and
was known for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Berta; son, Jim
Peterson; daughters, Carol von Berg and Nancy Dobler; seven
grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at noon
on Tuesday at Lodi Memorial Cemetery on E. Pine St. A gathering
will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pete and Bertha's.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Shriner's Children's Hospital or to a charity of the donor's
choice.
Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
