Viola Regina (Berndt) Strobel, 84, of Carson City, Nev. and formerly of Lodi, died June 27. She was born Nov. 20, 1928 in South Dakota.

Mrs. Strobel graduated from Lodi Union High School. She owned and operated the Westerner Motel in Stockton. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed bowling and spending time in Santa Cruz during annual summer vacations. She was a volunteer at the Carson City Senior Center Thrift Store.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Strobel; sons, Larry Strobel of South Lake Tahoe and Rick Strobel of Santa Rosa; daughter, Diane Bailey of Sacramento; brothers, Harvey and Bob Berndt, both of Lodi; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Capitol City Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
