Karen Marie Johnson, 46, of Woodbridge, died July 2, at her residence following a long illness.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1956, in Stockton.
She grew up in the Acampo area where she attended local schools. She was a graduate of Lodi High School, Class of 1975. She married Rick Johnson on May 3, 1980, at Woodbridge Community Church.
Mrs. Johnson spent two decades of service in children's Christian education. She worked as a daycare and pre-school educator at Century Assembly Pre-School, Happy Hours Daycare, Lodi Daycare Nursery, and lastly her own business, Busy Bee Day Care. While working at Happy Hours Daycare, she was awarded a special recognition as Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years.
She enjoyed drawing and painting. She was a skilled writer who wrote and directed many children's plays. She enjoyed sewing the costumes, and making the props. She also enjoyed reading, wood crafts, and most of all teaching.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Johnson of Woodbridge; daughter, Jenny Johnson of Woodbridge; parents, Harold Talley of Acampo, and Nona Talley of Lodi; sisters, Connie Biedel of Sacramento and Lois Palmer of Stockton; and brother, Mark Talley of Acampo.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Johnson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., Lodi, with the Rev. Harold Duncan, Pastor Emiritus of Century Assembly Church, officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Lodi Funeral Home.
