Robert M. Snyder, 82, of Lodi, died Dec. 25 in a local hospital. He was born on Aug. 3, 1919, in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Snyder moved to Omaha, Neb. as a child and graduated from high school in 1937. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, and received his B.S. Degree in General Engineering in 1941.

He was in ROTC in college and when he graduated was commissioned in the U.S. Army. He served in the 98th Division during World War II. He joined the National Guard in 1946 and retired in 1966.

He married his wife Kathryne in Fort Sill, Okla. on June 12, 1943. After the war they settled in Stockton and moved to Lodi in 1949.

He was an Eagle Scout and Sea Scout and member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, and Rotary International.

He was past president of ASHRAE, Stockton engineers and TROA. He owned RMS Professional Consultants Inc. in Stockton for 48 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family playing golf, traveling to the Great Wall of China and to the Pyramids, and his dog Meadow.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryne Snyder of Lodi; children, Marion Vaught of State College, Pa., Joni Semer of Lodi, and Larry Snyder of Lodi; and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Nancy Louise Snyder.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Norm Mowery officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Oak St., Lodi, CA 95240 or to the Delta Human Society, 4590 S. State Route 99 West Frontage Road, Stockton, CA 95213.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
