Joseph Wenda Jr., 80, died on Feb. 15. He was born in Linton, N.D., on April 6, 1931.

Mr. Wenda joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18 and was honorably discharged in 1953. In 1962, he became a member of the Lodi Fire Department, retiring at the rank of engineer after about 27 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and watching old movies and televised sports, especially the 49ers, Giants and the PGA.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Wenda; son, Gene Wenda; daughter, Barbara Wenda; and sisters, Dorothy Fuhrer, Lintina Bonamico and Paulina Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his son, Troy Daniel Wenda; brother, Eugene Wenda; and sisters, Angie Dorman, Theresa Kelsh and Rosemary Statema.

There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lodi Fire Department Widows and Orphans fund.
