For the second year in a row we watched our 10 year old grandson Dominic Rodriguez dominate the mound for 4 innings during the City Championship in Turlock with a win of 7-2 against the National League Champs The Thunder. The Thunder scored 2 runs in the 1st inning but our RiverCats came back and showed what defending City Champs they were. There were Redhot Rivercats signs everywhere in the bleachers, and redhot it was with the temp soaring past the 100 mark! I don't think anyone seemed to mind in the packed bleachers and most of the fans came home with great memories and outlines of sunglasses around their eyes!
What a joy it was to watch our son Cory Rodriguez (manager of this team) take this championship two years in a row. The RiverCats only lost one game during their dominating season. Dominic hit two homeruns and two of his Rivercat team-mates each hit one during the regular season with numerous triples. After the game Cory came up to me and with a grin say "Well, wasn't that fun"? Congratulations to The Rivercats. It's off now to The Yankees next season for Dominic with dad as one of the coaches for this Major team.
