Valley Heat Fastpitch (Snow) team wins 16/18U Gold Division Tournament to end summer season

The last Summer Softball Tournament of the season for The Valley Heat Fast Pitch 18U (Snow) team of Lodi, CA. started with a Heat Blast. The culmination of 4 months of dedication to each other, they had one goal: to end the season with a bang.coming into Sunday Bracket play seeded 3 in the tournament; they rolled over their first opponents, Scarlet Saints 9-0 after a five-run rally in the first inning.

Megan Burton got the win for Valley Heat. She tossed three innings of shutout ball. Megan struck out six, walked none and gave up no hits. Valley Heat added four more runs in the bottom of the second.

In their second game, Megan Burton put together another nice outing. Megan tossed a shutout to lift Valley Heat to a 1-0 win over NorCal Athletics in six innings. The Athletics managed just one hit off the Valley Heat’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during her six innings of work.

In the Championship game, The Valley Heat shut the door early on Sutter Buttes Thunder, capturing a 10-0 victory on Sunday at Freedom Park. With 10 runs in the first three innings, Valley Heat left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run double by Ally Weaver, and an RBI double apiece by Ali Smith, and Megan Burton during the first inning and a two-run triple by Lexi Davis, an RBI single by Caitlyn Daley, and an RBI by Alyssa Snow in the second inning supplied the early offense for Valley Heat. Savannah Porter went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Valley Heat. She singled in the first and second, and doubled in the third innings.

Megan Burton shut down Sutter Buttes Thunder while she was on the rubber. The Thunder managed just one hit off Burton, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during her four innings of work.

Overall in the tournament, The Valley Heat’s offense was on fire, the team racked up a total of 39 hits(A.Smith-7, A.Snow-3, A.Weaver-9, C.Daley-5, E.Clay-2, J.Brown-1, L. Davis-2, M.Burton-2, M.Peters-2, S. Porter-6) and 24 RBIs for 33 Runs Scored in the six-game tournament.
