A restored 1859 pioneer wagon slipped through the temporarily enlarged glass entry into the San Joaquin County Historical Museum’s main exhibit building Wednesday.
The wagon, recently restored and on display for the first time, is the actual wagon that the L.M. and Eva Morse family traveled in from Missouri across the plains and mountains to Stockton. The wagon stayed in the Morse family for years, but the treasured artifact was donated to the museum several years ago. The wagon will be on display for the museum’s upcoming Festival of Trees on Dec. 7 and 8 and will be part of a new exhibit in the process of being developed.
Workers from The Glass Shop of Galt volunteered to take out the museum’s entry glass door and glass panels in order for the large wagon to be rolled into the building.
