Haverford College is pleased to announce the graduation with high honors of Amelia May Stillwell, daughter of Philinda and Robert Stillwell of Lodi, Calif., and a 2008 graduate of Lincoln High School.

One of 307 members of Haverford’s Class of 2012, Stillwell received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in gender and sexuality studies during commencement ceremonies in Haverford, Pa., on Sunday, May 13. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa society during her senior year, the oldest undergraduate academic honors society in the United States.

The title of Stillwell’s senior thesis, which is the capstone of the Haverford academic experience, is “Social Categorization and Intergroup Bias in Affective Facial Memory.”

While studying at Haverford, Stillwell worked as a writing tutor in the Haverford College Writing Center. She was a member of Allied Students for Consent. She was a part of the group home support staff at Labara Family Care Home and a camp counselor at Easter Seals Camp Harmon. In 2012, she was a recipient of the David Olton Award for Student Achievement in Psychology.
