In Lodi, few are as patriotic as “The Boy from the Greek island‚ Cephalonia.”
Socrates Papadimatos, a Greek immigrant, came to America in 1948 with only $25 in his pocket. He eventually owned a successful restaurant, and will gladly share stories about his love for this country.
“I love America and the people,” he exclaimed while wearing a stars and stripes hat and holding multiple flags. “(America) gives you the opportunity to be whatever you want to be.”
Every year Papadimatos shares his patriotism with commuters on Highway 12 by lining his property with dozens of American flags, silk flowers and a sign declaring “God bless America.”
