Stockton Barbershoppers make a port-of-call in Lodi

The Stockton Portsmen, members of the Barbershop Harmony Society, held their regular Chapter Meeting and Chorus Rehearsal at Chancellor Place last Tuesday night August 28.
Starting at 7 p.m., the men, and women, of the Portsmen shared their unique American music style with the residents, while having an opportunity to polish their repertoire in front of an audience for an hour and a half. The Portsmen began taking their Chapter Meetings “on-the-road” to O’Conner Woods in 2010, as member and past Chapter President Glen Mortensen was a resident.
Knowing that the residents were hungry for an evening’s activity, he suggested a visit. The response was so great, the Portsmen now schedule two or three visits a year, even though Glen has since moved to a new residence. As Associate Member Nancy Hennefer’s Mother is a resident of Chancellor Place, Nancy suggested a visit to the staff and the rest is now history. The Chapter is already scheduling a return trip, as well as visits to other locals.
