This summer was a very successful one for Tokay FFA. It all began with the point of awards trip, which rewarded the 20 most active FFA members. The group to took a trip to Great America in celebration for that school year’s success.

Tokay FFA also had many students show different types of animals at the San Joaquin County Fair this past June. The swine group consisted of Stephanie Gonzales, Laura Orosco, Emily Schneider, Kimberly Towle, Tiffany Towle, Michael Wratten, and Austin Yount. The lamb group included Alejandro Santilian and Ashley Williamson. Hailey Basel, Maddie Heinitz, Jaelee Juan, Kate Kaufman, Yesenia Mendoza, and Laura Orosco were part of the rabbit group.

Laura Orosco’s French Lop buck received first place in best of breed, while Hailey Basel took first in best of breed for her Mini Rex.

That’s not all the Tokay FFA did this summer. With the newly elected officers, the team traveled to South Lake Tahoe, where they spent three days learning how to interact with members, accomplished many team building activities, and established chapter goals. The officer team got to know each other very well and have planned some exciting activities for the Tokay FFA community.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
